TTUHSC EP and Tenet Healthcare are collaborating in an exciting opportunity to establish a new, 130 bed teaching hospital and 110,000 sq. ft. Medical Office Building in west El Paso. As part of this collaboration, TTUHSC EP is establishing a number of new Departments and residency programs with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine based at the Transmountain Campus.
The successful candidate in this position will be employed by TTUHSC EP at an academic rank of Assistant Professor or higher commensurate with qualifications, and will be a key participant in the process of establishing a new residency program in Internal Medicine. The candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient care, assists in curriculum development, supervise residents and provide teaching experiences for medical students from the PLFSOM. The candidate will participate in committees, research and / or scholarly activities within the Department, Medical School and University.
There are opportunities for leadership roles for the Department and the new residency program for individuals with the appropriate qualifications and experience.
This recruitment represents a unique collaboration between Tenet Sierra Providence Health Network and TTUHSC-EP to support the unmet medical needs of El Paso as well as expand the educational opportunities available to trainees in our region.
The position requires a M.D/D.O degree; completion of an ACGME approved fellowship in Gastroenterology, and qualifications to support an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.

About The Hospitals of Providence - Sierra East
Sierra Providence East Medical Center opened in May 2008 to serve the needs of east El Paso's growing community. Located at Edgemere and Loop 375, the 110-bed hospital has 6 Neonatal Intensive Care beds, 12 Intensive Care Unit beds, and a 20-bed Emergency Department. In addition the facility has 72 adult beds among its Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Orthopedic/Neurosurgery units.
At the Birthing Center in Women’s Services, families have access to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), 10-bed Labor and Delivery Unit, C-section rooms and Parents’ Sleep Room. Sierra Providence East Surgical Services features six operating rooms, four endoscopy rooms and a Pre-Operative Testing Center to meet the range of surgical specialties provided including but not limited to Orthopedic In late 2010 the hospital expanded its Cardiac Service line by adding Electrophysiology.
The hospital is proud to announce receiving its latest accolade of Stroke Certification by The Joint Commission, which further enhances its Emergency Services. In addition the department provides cardiac and invasive monitoring and the staff uses protocols for effective care, such as rapid administration of therapies including thromboplasminogen activator (TPA) for patients with heart attack symptoms.
