Job Description

Responsible for the managing of patient care/needs in the Sleep Clinic. Provides nursing care based on assessment and under the direction of the physician and/or nurse practitioner. This care may include, but is not limited to: processing orders of diagnostic tests/order, communication with patient and family as well as other disciplines related to the plan of care. Provides basic education to patients and parents. Interviews, assessed and triages patients/family needs during telephone encounters and shares information with other members of the team in order to develop a plan of care utilizing the nursing process set forth by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Possesses the ability to adapt an education plan for parents and children based upon their cognitive levels, abilities, social environment and cultural belief system. May network with staff from other departments within the hospital, particularly the lab, radiology and pharmacy. Collaborates with assistive staff, nurse practitioners, physicians and management to ensure quality care. Able to prioritize and review pertinent medical findings to the provider in a reasonable time frame as defined by the providers. Office duties include scheduling patients for sleep studies, assisting with medication prescription refills and prior authorizations, relaying patient lab results and treatment plans as directed and patient follow-up for treatment compliance and reinforcement of plan of care.

Required: Associate's Degree/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. (Bachelor's Degree must be obtained with 3 years of hire.) RN licensure in the state of Ohio, current CPR certification, basic computer skills.

Preferred: BSN. Pediatric Experience

About Dayton Children's Hospital

Dayton Children’s is a 155-bed, freestanding children’s hospital with more than 35 pediatric specialties.  We serve a pediatric population of 510,000 from a 20 county region of central and southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana.  Construction on a new, eight-story, 260,000-square-foot patient care tower in the center of the hospital’s current campus began in August 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2017.  Also, a major expansion of the Springboro Outpatient Care Center and Urgent Care will include a medical office building for pediatric specialists and primary care physicians, a 16-room pediatric emergency department, an outpatient surgery center with 4 operating rooms and a 4-bed Sleep Lab.
