A licensed professional nurse is responsible for the care of the pediatric patient under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. Competent nursing care is delivered based on a documented assessment and plan of care of the patient/family's needs developed by a registered nurse. Participates in health care decision making by communicating observations to the health care team. Is involved in the education of the patient and family to improve patient health outcomes when under the supervision of the RN or physician. Promotes a customer service oriented environment and acts as a change agent to meet the rapidly changing census and needs of all customers in a cost effective manner. Demonstrates skills in working with neonates, infants, children adolescents, and adults. Must have strong understanding of growth and development for these age groups. Participates at unit level in the formulation of policy within the field of responsibility.
REQUIRED: Associate degree/diploma in nursing with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years of hire, graduation from an accredited program of nursing, RN licensure in State of Ohio, CPR certification, communication skills and customer service skills.

Dayton Children’s is a 155-bed, freestanding children’s hospital with more than 35 pediatric specialties. We serve a pediatric population of 510,000 from a 20 county region of central and southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana. Construction on a new, eight-story, 260,000-square-foot patient care tower in the center of the hospital’s current campus began in August 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2017. Also, a major expansion of the Springboro Outpatient Care Center and Urgent Care will include a medical office building for pediatric specialists and primary care physicians, a 16-room pediatric emergency department, an outpatient surgery center with 4 operating rooms and a 4-bed Sleep Lab.
