Parkland has earned distinction as one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S News and World Report every year since 1994.PRIMARY PURPOSEReceives, records, and enters all calls requesting police responses received via telephone into the Computer Aided Dispatch System (CAD). Assists all callers with non-police requests, taking messages for department members and providing callers with the appropriate phone numbers/extensions or transferring the caller to the appropriate extension. Call takers will also provide dispatcher assistance by providing lunch and restroom breaks to ensure continuing public safety needs at Parkland facilities are handled in a timely manner.MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONSEducation:- NoneExperience:- Prior experience as a Receptionist, Telephone Operator is preferred. Certification/Registration/Licensure:- None Skills or Special Abilities:- Must pass extensive background investigation.- Must pass a pre-employment polygraph. - Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking abilities.- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of personal computers. - Must have effective written and oral communication skills. - Must be able to make sound judgments. - Must remain calm and effectively respond during stressful and/or high pressure emergency situations. - Must deal with the public and fellow employees in a tactful and diplomatic manner.- Must speak clearly and distinctly without any speech impediment using correct English.- Bi-Lingual ability is preferred.
