Job Description

General Statement of Job

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for a variety of duties, which may include payment posting for Aeromedical, Healey Center and Primary Care Clinics. This position performs duties as a collaborative member of the Revenue Cycle Department and Finance team by processing payments and performing reconciliations. The AR Specialist acts as a liaison between the Revenue Cycle Department and the Finance Department. The position also responds to inquiries from the finance department and other internal customers. This position handles credit card and check transactions and maintains all proper accounting controls in accordance with established policies, procedures and applicable regulatory and compliance standards. The Accounts Receivable Specialist compiles and reviews information needed for all cash reconciliation purposes and maintains payment and deposit tracking sheets.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Reconcile monthly medical payment posting for PCC to the bank statement

 

Process EOM reports for the Aeromedical department.

 

Process EOM reports for EJH.

 

Process all incoming cash.

 

Reconcile daily cash & credit card for PCC & PCCD to the bank statement.

 

Process purchasing orders.

 

Set-up EFT’s & ERA’s.

 

Post refunds, write-offs, & adjustments for EJH.

 

Process, record and track refunds.

 

Post and code payments for EJH.

 

Post and code payments for the Aeromedical department.

 

Prepares and deposits checks received by mail in a timely manner.

Posts payments into the systems within the established timeframe.

Assists Finance department in GL reconciliation.

Maintains and files all appropriate payment documentation daily.

Interact with staff, clients, payer and agencies to answer questions, obtain information, and resolve issues.

Participate in the training of new staff members.

Maintain open, positive, cordial, team-oriented lines of communication with Supervisor and other staff members.

Contribute to the Revenue Cycle Department and Finance team though positive attitude, respectful interaction, innovative ideas, efficiency, and ethical behavior.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; including appropriate grammar, spelling and sentence structure.

Assists in processing mail, mailing information, and other department duties as directed.

Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Position Qualifications

Education: 

High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred.

Experience: 

Three (3) plus years of accounting, finance, medical billing or business office experience preferred.
