Job Description

Recruiting EMG tech and NIOM tech for Established Baltimore Maryland top rated Neuroscience Center.

Join this expanding Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery, part of the Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute, which is ranked in the top 50 out of nearly 5,000 hospitals.

 EMR Technologist position 

Under limited supervision; performs complex electrodiagnostic and neurodiagnostic procedures in the laboratory, at bedside, and in all critical care units. Performs all modalities required as a registered neurodiagnostic technologist

 Performs standard and advanced Nerve conduction studies (NCS’s) in a highly skilled, patient appropriate manner, recognizes normal and abnormal results and recognizes and takes reasonable steps to eliminate physiological and nonphysiological artifact

·         Monitors certain NCS’s during surgeries at risk for peripheral nerve damage or for repairing nerves under a physician’s supervision.

       Logs and bills NCS’s and EMG’s according to the laboratory policies and procedures.

They are willing to train a tech with experience in EMG in EEG if they lacking experience in this area.

 NIOM Position:  CNIM Eligible per ASE Tech rules and regulations; and must have fluent knowledge of IOM/Neurophysiology. Must have American Heart Association CPR Certification, have attended a certified Intraoperative training program, and be certified by ABRET within 6 months of employment.


·         Associate degree in Applied Science and successful completion of American

  Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) REGISTRY

·         Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field

 The Neuroscience Institute offers both general and subspecialty consultations. Their providers treat a wide range of conditions, including: headache, stroke, epilepsy, nerve and muscle disorders, ALS, Parkinson disease, Alzheimer disease, and multiple sclerosis. They also provide comprehensive neurophysiology services including EEGs, evoked potentials, EMG nerve conduction velocity studies, transcranial Doppler studies, and intraoperative monitoring of EEGs and evoked potentials and have a level 4 EMU and are working towards a comprehensive stroke center status as well.
