The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Hospitalist to join our hospitalist group. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience. The selected candidate will join a busy hospital-based practice with a diverse and interesting patient population. Qualified applicants must be board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before start date. Excellent communication skills are required and fluent or conversational skills in Spanish are desirable. This is a challenging and interesting position involving teaching responsibilities with medical students, residents and other learners from the multi-disciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational, clinical, translational, and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center and Children’s Hospital is in the beginning stages of a 5 year and $225 million expansion project.
The Department of Pediatrics and Hospitalist Section are located predominantly at Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Children’s Hospital is Louisiana’s only free standing children’s hospital. The 247 bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Children’s is in the beginning stages of a 5 year and $225 million expansion project.
· MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
· Board certified/board eligible in Pediatrics
· Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana before start date
