We are looking for a pediatric palliative care physician to join our small but growing team at St Christopher's Hospital for Children. St Christopher's Hospital for Children is a 140 year old urban academic children's hospital in Philadelphia, dedicated to clinical care, education, and research. We serve an amazing urban/suburban population who greatly appreciate our presence in their community. We have an outstanding pediatric residency, and fellowships in Neonatology, Critical Care, and several others. I have been humbled by the passion among all the physicians, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, and others with whom I work.
The C.O.R.E. Palliative care program, provides Compassion, Options, Respect, and Education, not only for the patients and their families, but for the amazing health care workers with whom we serve our community. We provide consultations for symptom management, medical decision making, goals of care conversation, end of life care, and family support. At St Christopher’s we are in the beginning stages of developing a separate pain team as well.
We are looking for a board certified, fellowship trained palliative care physician in a combined role. The other role can be Oncology, Urgent Care, or possibly Hospitalist Medicine.
St. Christopher's Hospital for Children has a rich history and has recently undergone a $100 million expansion including a new critical care tower as well as Center for the Urban Child. The 189-bed hospital delivers high quality family- and patient-centered care to children from throughout the Philadelphia area and around the world. Philadelphia is one of the oldest cities in the United States. The streets are cobblestone and the architecture is a mix of old and new. Amongst the historical sites (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, just to name a few) lies many of the area’s finest restaurants, great shops, and boutiques. Lined with many tourist attractions, row homes and safe communities, Philadelphia is the hub of cultural amenities for everyone. From professional sports, Museums and the musical arts, Philadelphia has it all. Some of the country’s finest education institutions are there or a short drive away. 2 hours to NYC, 3 hours to Washington DC and 1 hour to the Atlantic coast puts this area an ideal place to raise a family.
