Job Description

Envision Physician Services is partnering with Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi to provide services in their Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, newborn nursery, and delivery room. We are seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist who has experience in the delivery room and feels comfortable with C-sections, high-risk deliveries, and neonatal resuscitation and stabilization prior to transport. The hospital has a certified level II NICU, but they don’t currently utilize it but would love to grow the program to be able to keep patients who are 32-weeks gestational age.

 

Details of the position/facility are listed below:

·         Staffing Model: 2 Pediatric Hospitalists

·         Schedule: Week on/off schedule

o   In-house during the day

o   Call from home at night

·         Cover NICU, newborn nursery (ADC – 5.5), deliveries (900/yr; attend 50% of deliveries), pediatric inpatient floor (ADC - 2), ER consults

·         Education of RNs/RTs to help grow their skillset and ultimately the acuity that the unit can handle

·         Subspecialty support includes Peds Radiology and Peds Anesthesia; Peds Infectious Disease available via telemedicine

 

Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford is a 217-bed acute care facility serving the northern third of Mississippi. One of the fastest growing hospitals in the region, Baptist-North Mississippi is currently in the middle of construction on a new $300M replacement hospital located at 1110 Belk Boulevard, just minutes from the current facility. The new facility will allow Baptist-North-Mississippi to provide even greater care to patients across its more than 100 medical and surgical specialists representing more than 30 specialty areas.

The City of Oxford is located in Lafayette County in the north central portion of Mississippi, approximately equidistant between St. Louis, Missouri and New Orleans, Louisiana.  The area's topography is characterized by rolling hills.  The City, which was incorporated in 1837, presently (2008) covers an area of 16.5 square miles and has a population of roughly 19,000.  The City is the home of the University of Mississippi, which was established in 1848.  The University has produced 24 Rhodes scholars, and is ranked among the top 30 institutions with largest endowments per student.

 

Oxford has been named by USA Today as one of the top six college towns in the nation. It is included in The Best 100 Small Towns in America. Demographics

The most recent (2010) US census indicates Oxford's population is 18,916 with a total land area of 16.5 square miles. Lafayette County has a population of approximately 43,975.  Over one half (55%) of the population lies in the 20-44 years of age group, contributed in large by the University.

 

Development Information

In 1989 the assessed value of real property in the City of Oxford was approximately $21 million, and around $9 million for property outside the City in the municipal school district, for a total of some $30 million.

 

By 2011 the total assessed value in the city limits had increased to $279 million, and $367 for the Oxford School District (parts of the Oxford School District lie outside the Oxford city limits).
