Network Chief Medical Officer
PeaceHealth, a not-for-profit, $2.6 Billion Catholic health system based in Vancouver, WA, is seeking a collaborative leader that will serve as Chief Medical Officer for their Northwest Network.  The Chief Medical Officer, Northwest Network (CMO) is a member of the local Executive Team in Bellingham, WA and participates in the design and development of the organization’s strategic plan and vision.  The CMO, Northwest Network also works closely with the Director of Quality in a Physician/Administrator dyad relationship to lead quality, patient safety and patient experience in the community and collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the facilities stay compliant with regulatory requirements. 
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer of the System, with a close working partnership with the Chief Executive for the Northwest Network, the CMO, Northwest Network is a physician executive who represents clinical practices for the executive team and works closely with Medical Staff leadership/committees, PeaceHealth Medical Group (PHMG) executives and providers to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives. Northwest Network responsibilities include: PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, WA; PeaceHeatlh Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor, WA; PeaceHealth United General Medical Center in Sedro-Wooley, WA and PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center in Ketchikan, AK.
Northwest Network CMO Essential Functions include:
  • Responsible for clinical quality improvement, patient safety and regulatory and accreditation projects/concerns within assigned communities.
  • In conjunction with system colleagues, Community Executive Team and Leadership Council; responsible for ensuring established medical practices express PeaceHealth mission, vision and organizational standards.
  • Participates in the planning, organization, and administration of general and medical policies and procedures in the hospital by membership in a variety of committees.
  • In support of Quality Director, co-chairs the Quality Management Committee – supporting development of the Quality Plan for the community, actively recruiting medical staff engagement and prioritizing work with other executives.  Collaborates with local and system Quality committees to ensure alignment.
  • Actively engages in Patient Safety support and initiatives, Root Cause Analysis as appropriate, and assuring credible action plans are resourced and completed.  Participates in system patient safety committees to share best practices and ensure follow up in local community.
  • Serves as a liaison between senior leadership and the medical staff.
  • Participates in annual strategic and operational planning for the Community in conjunction with annual strategic and operational planning for PH system.
Candidate qualifications include, but are not limited to: MD or MD/PhD who is eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington; a minimum of 5 years’ recent clinical practice; minimum of 10 years’ experience of high level healthcare leadership; experience leading and/or partnering in multidisciplinary teams; successful experience with redesign or process work, including community wide implementation and up-to-date knowledge of changes in healthcare, emerging clinical methodologies and standards are all required.
