Pediatric Endocrinologist – Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track)

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans, is seeking an additional full-time academic Pediatric Endocrinologist at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) to join our faculty group. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care, mastery in teaching and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric sub-specialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred post-graduate trainees in categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatrics, child neurology, combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric sub-specialty fellowship areas.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics (non-tenure, clinical track) depending on prior experience. Rank and salary to be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience.
The Endocrinology Division is the largest Pediatric Endocrine/Diabetes Program in the Gulf South. There are currently four full time faculty. The division has an ACGME accredited fellowship program with four fellows. Additional team members include an APRN, three CDE nurse educators and an endocrine nurse coordinator. Primary work location is the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans (247 beds), the only full-service, free-standing hospital for children in Louisiana and the primary pediatric teaching hospital for the LSUHSC system. Children’s is in the beginning stages of a five year and $225 million expansion project.
The division also conducts outreach at clinics in several south Louisiana cities. Faculty duties will include both inpatient and outpatient management of general endocrine and diabetes patients, as well as participation in the academic and teaching missions of the division. There are opportunities to conduct educational, clinical, translational, quality and outcomes research within the division and across the health sciences center.
· MD or MD/PhD or equivalent
· Board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology
· Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana by start date
