PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for coordinating the regulatory and administrative requirements for conducting research at Parkland. Receives, tracks and triages all new studies, modifications and close outs received by the Office of Research Administration. Serves as a resource and coordinator for researchers seeking Institutional Review Board services. Coordinates the research credentialing process for external, non-physician researchers.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

- Prefer a Bachelors degree in a health related field.

Experience:

- Minimum of five years experience in research regulatory affairs, research administration and/or Institutional Review Board (IRB) administration.

- Minimum of five years experience working in a hospital, clinical or other healthcare environment.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

- None.

Skills or Special Abilities:

- Proficiency in the applications of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

- Experience with Microsoft Access helpful.

- Ability to learn and apply information from other research systems including eIRB and Velos.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong organizational and coordination skills.

- Strong working knowledge and ability to apply federal regulations and ethical principles for the conduct of research.

- Must have the ability to work independently and execute multiple assignments with minimal supervision.

- Must be able to interact effectively with a variety of hospital personnel, peers, and medical staff.

- Must have the ability to apply creative problem solving.

- Must have the ability to execute multiple assignments with competing priorities.

- Must have significant attention to detail and with the ability to troubleshoot.

- Ability to plan, organize and meet competing deadlines.

- Ability to work with and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
