General Statement of Job
This position ensures department policies and procedures are maintained in the provision of custodial and laundry services. Employees in this position supervise personnel engaged in providing a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for Health Care District personnel, facilities, and facility residents.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
General management duties to include, but not limited to: prepares and distributes assignments supervised staff, participates in recruitment and hiring of new staff, provides orientation to facility policies and procedures. Maintains all records concerning supervised staff (e.g., absences, leave requests, and payroll). Maintains records concerning work performed, materials used, quality control, and incident reporting.
Completes purchase orders, requests for quotes, check requests and related financial documentation.
Ensures supervised staff are performing the correct duties and on a timely schedule.
Conducts in-service training and monitors staff to ensure proper work methods, handling and disposal of chemicals, supplies, clean and soiled linens, and hazardous wastes to maintain an environmentally safe environment.
Performs product and equipment evaluations, including cost analysis, for the purpose of providing recommendation or disapproval for facility use.
Distributes equipment, chemicals, and supplies. Monitors chemicals and supplies usage and orders such to maintain sufficient inventories.
Inspects facility, chemical stations, laundry practices, laundry areas and disposal sites to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Ensures proper handling and disposal of chemicals, supplies, and hazardous wastes at all times. Observes, monitors and documents infection control procedures.
Other assigned duties as needed.
Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Four (4) to Five (5) years previous experience or training that demonstrates ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the essential functions as outlined herein required Previous experience in a health care setting and Two (2) to Three (3) years minimum of management experience required.
