PRIMARY PURPOSE The Revenue Integrity Analyst routinely interacts with a variety of Parkland Team Members to help improve compliance with government, managed care and other third party payor billing and reporting requirements. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education: - Bachelors degree in healthcare from an accredited college or university. - Graduate of a bachelors of science in nursing program preferred.
Experience: - Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Certified professional Coder required with experience with CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS and Modifier Coding in both inpatient and outpatient hospital environment. - 1+ year coding experience with ICD-10.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience: - May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements. Certification/Registration/Licensure: - Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Specialist (CCS) preferred.
Skills or Special Abilities: - Exceptional analytical skills necessary to determine appropriateness of patient charges in relation to medical records and third party reimbursement. - Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology commensurate with the ability to correctly code provider services and diagnoses. - Requires working knowledge of provider billing guidelines, third party billing, payer reimbursement policies, appeals, medical necessity criteria, applicable industry based standards, regulatory and accrediting requirements are required. - Remain current on CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPC and Modifier coding requirements, policies, procedures and payor requirements. - Must demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft office products, other health record systems with recent EPIC knowledge preferred and to work effectively with computerized programed and data bases. - Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication with a wide range of audiences such as insurance providers, counterparts, managers, departmental staff, etc. - Demonstrate independent judgment, discretion, and decision making abilities - ¿Self-motivated, hardworking individual with a high attention to detail¿¿¿.¿¿¿ - Must possess ability to dissect and analyze reported data - Knowledge, understanding and proper application of: o Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer billing and reporting requirements o UB-04 revenue codes o CPT/HCPCS coding system including Medicaid specific requirements o NCCI/CCI/OPPS CPT/HCPCS coding edits o Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) o Medicare advance beneficiary notice reporting guidelines o 1500/CMS o Medicare and other third party payer published medical necessity edits o ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems o APC classification systems o Medical terminology - Knowledge of quality management methodologies, compliance requirements and performance improvement systems, abstract Medical Record documentation is a must. - Ability to produce accurate, assigned work product within specified time frame.
