::The RN has multiple roles and functions including care-giver, decision-maker, client advocate, manager, rehabilitator, comforter, communicator, and teacher. The functions include assessment of the nursing needs of the patient, initiation of the plan of care of nurse action, implementation of the plan of care and the evaluation of the process, by use of the nursing process. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice. The RN promotes the dignity and quality of the nursing care given to the patient.
There are more than 125 physicians and dentists on the medical staff of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, representing a number of specialties, which are practiced both in inpatient and outpatient settings, including:
- Neurology and Neurosciences
- Emergency medicine – Level III Trauma Center and Level III Stroke Center

Inpatient rehabilitation unit, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for general, brain injury, and stroke rehabilitation

Women's Imaging Center, accredited by the American College of Radiology and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine program, which received a Center of Distinction award from Healogics, Inc.
St. Mary's Regional Medical Center is fully accredited for all services by The Joint Commission.
