Harris Pediatrics is seeking an additional pediatric nurse practitioner to join their busy practice. The group is expanding to meet an increase in patient volume. Harris Pediatrics are employed by the local medical center, Harris Regional Hospital, located in Sylva, North Carolina. An excellent compensation and benefits package will be provided. Our providers are well respected, energetic, and are actively involved in the community and our community hospital. Harris Pediatrics is proud to serve an under-served community, and as such qualify for National Health Service Corps Loan repayment. Our practice is open six days a week (Monday- Saturday) & offers a walk-in clinic for acute visits Monday- Friday from 8am-12pm. Hours of operation Monday-Friday are 8am-5pm. Our Saturday clinic hours are 9am-noon and is for acute visits.
Bryson City is the county seat of Swain County, which has a population of 14,500. Bryson City borders the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and provides several entrances to the park in addition to a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities. Landmarks surrounding Bryson City include the Cherokee Indian Reservation, Nantahala River/Nantahala Gorge, Fontana Lake and Fontana Dam. Southwestern Community College, which has been ranked among the top community colleges nationally, has a campus in Swain County, just west of Bryson City.
As a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Swain County features miles of hiking and biking trails as well as nearby campsites and horseback riding opportunities. Rivers surrounding the area include the Nantahala, Tuckasegee and Oconaluftee, all of which provide recreational and fishing options. Bryson City is known for whitewater rafting and offers a variety of outfitters providing guided rafting, kayaking and canoeing trips. The Tsali Recreation Area trail system has some of the best bike trails in the region.

Harris Regional Hospital, established in 1925, is an 86-bed acute and specialty care facility serving the western North Carolina counties of Jackson, Swain, Graham, and Macon as well as parts of North Georgia. The hospital offers two dozen medical specialties, and its major service lines include women’s care, orthopaedics, general surgery, cardiology and emergency medicine. The hospital serves as a medical hub for patients from around the region with more than half of the hospital’s patients coming from outside Jackson County. In addition, Harris Regional Hospital operates an urgent care in Sylva and an outpatient facility in Franklin, North Carolina.
