Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and chronic medical needs of inpatients and outpatients consistent with the clinical management guidelines as set forth by South Carolina Heart Center, PA and/or the individual cardiologist. Performs and dictates complete history and physical exams. Orders appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to help determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan. Performs exercise treadmill examinations, including pharmacologic examinations, with appropriate supervision. Documents patient information and care in patient record. Assists in discharge planning for inpatients. Completes discharge summaries. Responds appropriately in emergency situations. Prescribes medications in compliance with state law. Educates patients and family members as appropriate. Provides continuity of care Maintains patient confidentiality. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations, specifically current knowledge of cardiology medications, therapies, clinical guidelines, etc Interact with hospital and SCHC personnel for the coordination of patient care. Interacts with SCHC staff and referring physician offices for the coordination of outpatient care. Takes weekend, weeknight and holiday call consistent with other MLPs in Columbia Performs related tasks as assigned Abides by Corporate Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct set forth in the South Carolina Heart Center, P.A. Corporate Compliance Plan for Coding and Documentation. Job Requirements: Nurse Practitioner: 1 year of cardiology experience preferred as a nurse practitioner or graduate NP with 5 years of cardiac experience as an RN Physician Assistant: Two years of cardiology experience preferred as a physician assistant.
