Transport patients via wheelchair, bed and stretcher. Handles medical equipment safely including IV pumps/poles, Oxygen tanks, PCA pumps, Chest tubes, Catheters, traction, etc. while transporting patients. Maintains positive, polite and professional relationships with patients displaying exceptional customer service. Prepares patients for transport and assist them in and out of wheelchair. Follows safety precautions and infection control techniques. Ensure that transport equipment is in good working conditions and notify management of any repairs and maintenance. Adheres to established standards, policies, procedures, rules and regulations to transport isolation patients. Perform first aid and CPR during emergency situations. Utilize 2-way communication device for communication purposes of transport assignments. Works closely with physicians, nurses and other clinical support staff regarding patient care.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience in hospital setting and patient care preferred.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Exceptional customer service skills a must. Must be able to communicate effectively, posses great interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to interact appropriately with a diverse population of patients in a professional, courteous and helpful manner. Must be able to lift, bend, reach, stretch, carry and transport patients of various body weights and sizes. Must demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out both written and verbal instructions. Must be dependable and motivated to complete duties without constant supervision.
