Our Burn Service line consist of the RN working in 3 areas 1) Burn ICU; 2) Intermediate Step-down Adult & Pediatric Burn Unit, & 3) Pediatric Unit. The nurse is responsible for the assessment and management of pediatric to elderly patient population with burn wounds, inhalation injury, electrical trauma and chemical burns. Our patients are unique in that their stay is from the time of admission to when their wounds are healed. These patients then return to our Outpatient Department for follow up treatment allowing the staff to follow their progress.
The Burn Center staff is a close group who works as a team to get the job accomplished. Our nurse to patient ratio is small, but can be challenging due to the patient's injuries.
Educational Opportunities within the first year of employment include:
Essentials of Critical Care (ECCO) training program to gain ICU knowledge and ACLS & PALS CERTIFICATION
Position requires the care of pediatric burns, pediatrics, and Adult Burn.
Experience nurse preferably in ICU for adult/peds.
ACTIVE LA RN LICENSE REQUIRED
CPR & PALS REQUIRED
