Medical Assistant, Immunization Specialist
Seeking
a Medical Assistant, Immunization Specialist, to play a crucial role in
managing the immunization programs at the assigned center. This position
involves the responsibility of overseeing patient vaccine data, maintaining
accurate records, ensuring immunization compliance, and adhering to VFA/VFC
guidelines. The Immunization Specialist also supports the development of
policies and procedures related to immunization practices.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages
all patient vaccine data, including updating the Arizona State
Immunization Information System (ASIIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR),
and external records at each patient visit.
- Prepares
available immunization information before patient visits with the
provider.
- Stores
and administers immunizations according to VFA/VFC guidelines.
- Participates
in the development of policies and procedures related to immunization
practices.
- Identifies
patient immunization requirements based on age-specific needs and
protocols.
- Completes
appropriate immunization paperwork for record-keeping purposes.
- Facilitates
vaccine inventory control at the assigned health center.
- Ensures
newly arrived vaccines are entered into the EHR system through file
maintenance.
- Acts as
a liaison between providers and caregivers.
- Generates
reports on patients and contacts them for immunization compliance and
updates.
- Assists
in ensuring compliance with infection control policies, protocols, and CDC
and federal VFA/VFC program guidelines.
- Works
flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as
required.
- Performs
vaccine audits for the designated site to meet internal and external
deadlines.
- Completes
and maintains annual competencies and trainings related to the vaccine
program as assigned by the Vaccine Program Manager.
- May
perform other clinical duties as needed to support provider and staffing
requirements.
Required Minimum Qualifications - Education,
Experience, Certificates & Licenses:
- High
School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion
of a Medical Assistant Diploma or United States Armed Forces medical
service training program required.
- Certified
EKG Technician Certification required within 6 months of hire date.
- Certified
Phlebotomy Technician Certification required within 6 months of hire date.
- Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
- 2 years
of experience working in a clinical setting required.
- Valid
Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- Driver's
License and Proof of Insurance may be required if requesting mileage
reimbursement.
- LPN
Nursing Degree preferred.
