Locums Trauma Surgery Physician

We are seeking an experienced Locums Trauma Surgery Physician to provide high-quality coverage at a busy trauma service in Asheville, North Carolina. This role offers a consistent monthly schedule, a supportive team environment, and exposure to a high-acuity patient population.

 

Position Details

 

• Schedule:
• 14 shifts per month (12-hour shifts)
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (10.5 hours)
• Night Shift: 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM (13.5 hours)
• Additional Coverage:
• Nights, weekends, and holidays required
• 24-hour shifts available but not mandatory
• Call room available for night shift
• Patient Volume: Approx. 35 patients per day, shared among covering providers
• Setting: Hospital-based trauma service

 

Required Responsibilities

 

• Provide acute trauma and emergency surgical care.
• Perform required procedures including:
• Tube thoracostomy
• Central venous catheter placement
• Arterial line placement (preferred)
• Participate in trauma activations, admissions, consultations, and inpatient management.
• Collaborate closely with trauma team members, intensivists, and emergency medicine providers.

 

Requirements

 

• Board Certified in Trauma Surgery, General Surgery, or Surgical Critical Care
• Active North Carolina medical license
• Active NC DEA
• ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification
