Fauquier Health Physician Services is seeking a BC/BE family practitioner for an outpatient-only, hospital-owned practice located in Bealeton, Virginia, about 60 miles south west of Washington DC. The practice is well-established and paperless, and as the only medical practice of any sort in the immediate area, is very busy and well-regarded. Call (telephone triage only) is 1:4. Although separately located, the practice is part of Fauquier Health Physician Services, a hospital-owned multispecialty group that is comprised of both primary care and specialty physicians and which has grown significantly in the past three years. The practice is professionally managed and well-run, allowing physicians the opportunity to focus on the practice of medicine rather than the business of practice.
Dating back to the 17th century and the beginnings of our country, Fauquier County was named after Francis Fauquier, Lieutenant Governor of the Colony of Virginia. Steeped in equestrian tradition, and surrounded by wineries and vineyards, today Fauquier County is known for being at the heart of hunt and wine country. The county attempts to protect and encourage its agricultural heritage while at the same time, encouraging new businesses. Many thousands of acres are protected under land easements that ensure Fauquier’s rolling hills will be preserved well into the future. Fauquier has three incorporated towns, including The Plains, Warrenton (the county seat), and Remington, and many small historic villages. Residents are served by a thriving school system with three high schools, four middle schools and seven elementary schools, as well as three branch libraries.
Equestrian events are numerous and varied. The Plains, in northern Fauquier, is home to the Great Meadow events center, which hosts point-to-point races, horse shows and jumping competitions, as well as polo matches every weekend during the spring and summer. The Virginia Gold Cup (in May) and the International Gold Cup (in October) are prestigious steeplechase events that draw tens of thousands of visitors to the county. In Warrenton, the Warrenton Horse Show is a youth-run event that has been going on for more than 100 years. Two dozen wineries in the county provide an opportunity for visitors to relax and enjoy bucolic views and locally made wine. Most vineyards host wine-tastings and other events, and the Virginia Wine Festival is held in September, as well. The rich Civil War history in Fauquier County can be experienced through several different self-driven tours, guided tours, museums, and historical trail markers, and a walk down Main Street in Warrenton is a stroll through Virginia’s rich history. Children and adults alike are drawn to the Flying Circus in southern Fauquier, which presents a wing-walking airshow every Sunday afternoon. Other annual events, like the Scottish Games and Festival, Evening Under the Stars and First Night in Warrenton, dot the annual calendar.
