Rutherford Regional Health System is based in Rutherfordton, NC, one of three primary municipalities in Rutherford County along with nearby Forest City and Spindale. Rutherfordton is the county seat of Rutherford County, with a population of approximately 4,200. Established in 1787, Rutherfordton is one of the oldest towns in western North Carolina and is the longest-running continuous government in the region.
