Anesthesiology Residency Program Director on the Florida Gulf Coast

The Department of Anesthesiology at HCA Florida West Hospital is establishing a new Anesthesiology Residency program with an estimated start date of July 2025.
We are currently seeking a dynamic physician leader for the role of Residency Program Director, eager to build a program from the ground up. Experience the prestige of being an academic leader supporting the largest GME provider in the United States (HCA Healthcare) and help shape the direction of medical education at the Division and National level.
Candidates must be ABA board certified in Anesthesiology and have at least three years’ experience as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology program. The successful candidate will have a national reputation as a leader in academic medicine in the areas of medical education, clinical care, and research (relevant within the last five years).
Candidates with experience as a Program Director, Assistant Program Director and/or Core Faculty with leadership involvement are strongly preferred. Candidates with recent scholarly activity such as peer reviewed funding, publication of original research or review articles in peer-reviewed journals, chapters in textbooks, publication or presentation of case reports or clinical series at scientific society meetings, or participation in national committees or educational organizations highly encouraged to apply.
An Academic appointment will be made available to the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.
Qualified Candidates Must:
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as Core Faculty in an ACGME-accredited residency
- Maintain Board Certification in Anesthesiology
- Have previous leadership/administrative experience
- Be willing to combine administrative, didactic, and clinical responsibilities
- Have excellent interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
Responsibilities will include:
- Accountability for the operation of the Anesthesiology Residency Program
- Development of curriculum (including simulation), policies, and procedures for the program
- Obtain and maintain ACGME accreditation and state approval
- Recruitment of residents into the program and development of evaluation processes
- Participation in competency evaluation of residents
- Additional responsibilities to ensure program's success
