**Orthopedics PA Opening Near Syracuse, NY**
Located in Oneida, NY - Syracuse 72m
Seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedics outpatient office.
* The position will include inpatient and outpatient care as well as assistance in the operating room.

**Qualifications:**
* Education: Completion of graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
* Experience: Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred.
* Experience in Orthopedics preferred.
**Licenses/Certifications:**
* Must hold an active and current Physician Assistant License (PA) in NY
* Must hold current national board certification by the first day of work and maintain it.
* Must hold an active and transferable DEA license to NY as required by the clinical specialty.
* Must be eligible for payer enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid.
* Must hold current AHA BLS and ACLS as a minimum requirement.
What Youll be Great At:
* Working with the physicians/surgeons/colleagues and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient patient management.
* Performing histories and physicals, pre-operative planning/outside providers, and PCPs as applicable.
* Responding to changes in patient status.
* Providing needed prescriptions/evaluations/referrals/treatments as permitted.
* Providing patient education, and arranging follow-up appointments.
* Performing clinical assessments and management services on orthopedic patients which includes interpretation of a history and physical exam.
* Coordinating perioperative patient care.
* Performing pre-operative history and physical examinations before a procedure.
* Initiating pre-and-post-operative orders (subject to authorization/co-signature of a responsible physician).
* Making rounds on in-hospital patients as needed to evaluate patient progress and enter detailed notes into the EMR.
* Dictating discharge summaries.
* Removing sutures, staples, and drains; changing dressings and performing appropriate wound care.
* Assessing patients.
* Assisting in the operating room.
* Working with the practice assistants to address patient queries under the guidance of the supervising physician.
* Serving as an assistant during specified orthopedic surgical procedures.
* Managing prophylaxis, post-operative, and pain medication management.
* Evaluating, assessing, and creating a documented plan of treatment per patients presenting HPI or established care plan.
* Answering clinically relevant patient medical advice calls or during bedside communications or coordination with health care professionals, patients, and their families as necessary.
* Independently or in a shared visit model, evaluate routine, acute, critical, new patients, or specialty consultations when needed or required and discuss with attending and staff as appropriate.
* Interpreting and acting upon ordered tests, procedures, and radiographic studies.
* Assisting in formulating and implementing protocols to improve efficiency in the clinical specialty.
