Locum Gastroenterologist Needed - Inpatient & Outpatient

Overview:
We are seeking a Gastroenterologist for locum coverage in Illinois. This role offers a flexible schedule with a minimum of 2 weeks per month and the potential for full-time work. Providers will support both inpatient and outpatient GI services, focusing heavily on procedural care in a low-volume hospital environment.

Assignment Details:

• Schedule:
  • Monday–Friday, 8–9 hour days
  • 4 days/week in GI Lab performing procedures
  • 1 day/week in clinic (20–30 patients/day)
  • Daily inpatient rounding as needed
  • Overnight weekday call while on-site (in-house)
• Call Volume: ~4 admissions per night
• Facility Size: 49-bed hospital
• Shifts/Month: Minimum 10 days/month; up to 14+ for full-time coverage
• EMR: Epic
• Support: Full-time APP in clinic, collaborative environment

Clinical Scope:

• EGDs and routine colonoscopies
• Scopes for GI bleeds
• Treating esophageal bleeds
• In-house GI consults for stable conditions
• Adults only – no pediatrics

Requirements:

• Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Illinois medical license
• DEA, ACLS, BLS, and IL CSR
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
• Proficiency with GI bleeds, EGDs, and routine colonoscopies
