Provide comprehensive treatment to meet the needs of patients and their families.  IOP Therapists are expected to provide treatment that is consistent with Caron’s mission, vision, and values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Case management – overall coordination of a patient’s care while receiving outpatient services, including communication with family, referral, and other concerned persons., communication with referral sources, assessment of patient progress and communication to the clinical team regarding special treatment needs and procedures.
  • Responsible for facilitating assessments such as level of care evaluation, psychosocial interview/integrated summary and complete all associated documentation and communication with the treatment team.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy that is consistent with patient treatment goals on their treatment plans. Complete all associated documentation.
  • Provide family therapy when it is clinically appropriate. Assessing family dynamics and supporting the family system as a whole. 
  • Document treatment plans, progress notes, treatment plan updates, case consultations, telephone calls and discharge summaries in the patient records in a timely fashion. This includes the coordination of assessments from the multidisciplinary treatment team according to Caron policy and procedures.
  • Aftercare care assessment and planning – assess unresolved and deferred problems and write goals and objectives in the aftercare plan.
  • Responsible for the collection of random urine drug screen and breathalyzer samples from patients when indicated and relaying the results to the patient.
  • Responsible for completing necessary utilization review information.
  • Work within the ethical constraints of their respective counselor/therapist roles, and other professional or organizational ethical standards as they apply to the position.
  • Assume responsibilities such as speaking engagements for targeted groups in the facility and general community, represent the facility on clinical/administrative committees, assist in training new staff and consulting or provide other treatment services at Caron facilities as assigned.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in a related field required
  • License preferred with 1 year of clinical experience in relevant field. Licensure required for Ocean Drive programs.
  • Experience with in-network insurance programs preferred for Core program.
  • If in recovery, 2 years of continuous sobriety is preferred.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • An excellent understanding of the emotional and behavioral effects of addiction.  
  • An excellent understanding of family systems. 
  • Ability to use clinical software and other software programs.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   
  • Ability to be “on-call” in the event of an emergency.
