Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Weekend Only (Full-Time with Benefits)
Location: Southbridge & Webster, MA (Hybrid: Onsite 1–2 days per week)
Schedule: Weekends Only | Full-Time | Friday 5 PM – Monday 7 AM
Setting: Inpatient Psychiatric & Consult Liaison Services
Position Summary:
A leading healthcare organization in Central Massachusetts is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join its inpatient psychiatric and consult liaison teams. This role offers a weekend-only schedule with the benefits and stability of full-time employment. It is ideal for experienced psychiatric NPs looking to maintain a meaningful clinical practice while enjoying flexibility and a collaborative team environment.
Clinical Responsibilities:
The PMHNP will provide care across three key areas:
Adult Psychiatric Unit (APU): 24-bed general adult psychiatry inpatient unit
Co-Occurring Disorders Unit (CDU): 16-bed unit focused on dual diagnoses (psychiatric and substance use)
Consult Liaison (C/L) Service: Provides psychiatric consultation for patients in medical/surgical and ICU settings
Key Duties Include:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and physical exams
Develop differential diagnoses and individualized treatment plans
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to manage care
Provide medication management and prescribe within scope of licensure (Schedules II–VI)
Participate in consult service coverage on an alternating weekend basis
Document clinical findings, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (Epic)
Provide patient and family education and coordinate discharge planning
Maintain availability for phone consultation when not onsite
Position Highlights:
Full-time, weekends only (Friday evening to Monday morning)
Benefits-eligible with vacation (4 weekends per year)
Workload: Max census of 20 patients/day + consults, shared with another NP
Schedule: Onsite approx. 12 hours/day; remote availability as needed
Supportive team: MD backup and on-site ED support available
Collaborative environment: Includes psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, and clinicians
Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with board certification as a PMHNP
Current Massachusetts APRN license with prescriptive authority
Minimum 1 year of inpatient psychiatry or consult liaison experience
Preferred:
3–5 years of psychiatric NP experience
Core Competencies:
Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Familiarity with Epic EMR or similar systems
