Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, a 162-bed acute care hospital, brings advanced technology and expert medical specialists to San Luis Obispo County. Highly decorated and serving the community since 1959, Sierra Vista is the county’s designated Trauma Center, provides the county’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and dedicated pediatric unit, and an Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center. Other high-level services include a neurosurgery program that is affiliated with UC San Francisco, orthopedics, obstetrics, perinatology (high-risk pregnancy), pediatrics, gastroenterology, and cancer care that includes robotic bronchoscopy and blue light cystoscopy. Sierra Vista earned designation as an internationally-recognized Baby-Friendly birth facility and has earned the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality “Leader” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, Sierra Vista has earned an “A” from the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade in every reporting period since it was created in 2012.
