Responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the nursing care of children with endocrine disorders. Provides education to patients, parents, nursing staff and members of the community on topics related to diagnosis and management of the pediatric/adolescent patient with endocrine disorders. Possesses the ability to adapt an education plan for parents and children based upon their cognitive levels, abilities, social environment and cultural belief system. May network with staff from other departments within the hospital, particularly the lab, radiology and pharmacy. Collaborates with the Medical Director and Administrative Manager and other staff to ensure quality care. Serves as liaison between endocrinology department and internal/external customers. Coordinates diagnostic testing/physician's orders and communicates needed information to patient/family. Relays changes in the plan of care, as well as providing associated education, to patients and their families. Works with physicians, payors and families related to prior authorization and other financial issues. administers medications per policy/procedure.
REQUIRED: A Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, a current Ohio nursing license and 1-2 years of related experience required. A Master's and pediatric or endocrine experience preferred.

Dayton Children’s is a 155-bed, freestanding children’s hospital with more than 35 pediatric specialties. We serve a pediatric population of 510,000 from a 20 county region of central and southwestern Ohio and eastern Indiana. Construction on a new, eight-story, 260,000-square-foot patient care tower in the center of the hospital’s current campus began in August 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2017. Also, a major expansion of the Springboro Outpatient Care Center and Urgent Care will include a medical office building for pediatric specialists and primary care physicians, a 16-room pediatric emergency department, an outpatient surgery center with 4 operating rooms and a 4-bed Sleep Lab.
