Responsible for patient care within an assigned department/unit and participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse. The RN Staff Nurse assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for Legacy Health System including those for patient assessment and transfer.

Our nationally recognized Level One Trauma Critical Care unit, remodeled in 2013, is a 24-bed unit that provides state-of-the-art care and achieves some of the highest success rates for ICUs in the United States.

This unit provides critical care to adolescent and adult patients who are at high risk of developing life threatening complications as a result of multiple trauma, neuro trauma, cardiovascular surgery, complex general surgery, neurosurgery, and/or complicated medical processes. The team practices leading edge neuro science care with the use of advanced technology cerebral multi-modal monitoring including cerebral microdialysis, cerebral blood flow and cerebral oxygen monitoring.

  • Our highly skilled and professional team of critical care nurses works in a collaborative practice environment with a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and with a "can do, will do and does" attitude.
  • Available are an advanced pulmonary failure and adult ECMO program, and nurses working in this environment have opportunities for advanced training in Trauma Resuscitation, ECMO, advanced neuro monitoring, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy. This department is regularly involved in multiple research studies.

Care of Patients
Performs and documents bio-psychosocial assessments according to patient age and condition.
Formulates and implements a plan of care for each patient which includes interventions, evaluation of response to interventions and documentation as appropriate to condition and age.

Qualifications

Education:

As required by licensure. BSN preferred.

Experience:

One-year registered nursing experience or completion of either the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program that is equivalent in content, curriculum and duration. Additional clinical experience requirements may vary dependent upon the specific department in which the position is utilized.

ICU experienced required. This position is not currently accepting transition RN's at this time.

Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
