PRIMARY PURPOSE Responsible for researching charge discrepancies for Population Health and working with other departments to make necessary corrections. Education: - Must have an Associate's degree in a related field OR must possess one of the coding certifications below.

Experience: - Must have five years of experience in a hospital or business office setting to include experience in the areas of medical billing, registration, or coding.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience: -

May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above. Certification/Registration/Licensure: - One of the following certifications is required if an Associate degree is not held: - Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT) - Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA) - Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - Certified Coding Specialist ¿ Physician Based (CCS-P) - Certified Professional Coder (CPC) - Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) - Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) - Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Apprentice (CPC-H-A) Skills or Special Abilities: - Must have knowledge of third party payors and understand managed care and insurance coverage, eligibility and explanation of benefits. - Must have working knowledge of CPT and ICD 10/Diagnosis coding. - Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of personal computers, to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. - Must be detail oriented, possess basic mathematical skills, and have sharp analytical skills to resolve complex financial issues. - Must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good leadership skills, good verbal and written communication skills, and be professional in both appearance and approach. - Must demonstrate teamwork and interpersonal skills. - Must have medical terminology knowledge. - Must have understanding of medical practice operations. - Prefer knowledge of Epic systems.
