Job Description

Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities.

UT Tyler School of Medicine seeks a BE/BC Critical Care Anesthesiologist to join our health system comprised of 9 hospitals and more than 70 physician clinics. 

Position Details: Physician will practice at UT Health Tyler and occasionally at UT Health North Campus Tyler with exposure to a wide variety of post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients.

  • Teaching responsibilities may include participation on service with internal medicine residents and family medicine residents and eventually anesthesia residents and medical students.
  • We anticipate our anesthesia residency training program to begin June 2024.   
  • Research is not necessary, but the opportunity is available to clinical faculty. 
  •  UT Health Tyler
  • 501 bed, level I trauma center, tertiary hospital, 74-bed ICU capacity
  • Medical staff of more than 600 physicians including a full complement of subspecialty physicians
  • The ICU is fortunate to have a full-time staff of dedicated critical care PAs.
  • Point-of-care ultrasound is utilized, as well as other state of the art critical care skills.
  • Medical/surgical, neurologic, cardiac and trauma ICUs
  • Dedicated stroke center
  • Interventional and neuro-interventional radiology
  • Ion robot for bronchoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy and EBUS
  • North Campus pulmonary clinic has associated infusion center
  • UT Health North Campus Tyler
  • 14-bed ICU, level IV trauma center, 24-hour emergency department
  • Advanced cancer treatment
  • Behavioral health services including outpatient care for ages 3-adult and inpatient adult and geriatric programs
  • Biomedical Research conducted at UT Health Science Center is nationally recognized

About UT Tyler School of Medicine:

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas.
