Company: Carilion Clinic Profession/Specialty: Emergency Medicine Location: Tazewell, Virginia Type of Facility: Hospital Job Type:Employee
Job Description

Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital (CTCH), a full service community hospital with 18 inpatient beds, is recruiting for the combined position of Emergency Medicine/Hospitalist. To ensure the timely delivery and continuity of care, the hospital provides 24 hour emergency department (ED) and inpatient services. ED volumes average 10k annually.  Enjoy working in a brand new state-of-the-art 10 bed ED, opened in 2016, with support of Advanced Care Practitioners and scribes 12 hours a day.

Carilion offers a sophisticated, integrated medical network with electronic medical records and centralized patient registration and billing. Transfers are supported to other Carilion and nonCarilion hospitals in Southwest Virginia including Carilion Roanoke Memorial with Level 1 trauma coverage. CTCH primarily serves the counties of Tazewell, Russell, Mercer and McDowell.

This opportunity offers 12 or 24 hour shifts with a flexible schedule, increased competitive salary with bonus pay, paid malpractice, and a comprehensive benefits plan to include a company-funded pension plan. Candidates must be Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. If Board Certified in IM or FM, 2 years of experience is preferred.

Though CTCH officially became a part of the Carilion Clinic family in 2008, the hospital has been under Carilion's management since 1981. In recent years, the hospital has undergone several renovations and expansions. Most recently the private and semi-private inpatient rooms were updated to offer a modern ED and hospital atmosphere.

CTCH is dedicated to community, history and family, as exemplified through memorials and tributes throughout the hospital. Local artist's works decorate the halls and the "Tree of Love" located in the West Wing, shares the legacy of those who have contributed to the hospital's expansion fund over the years.

At CTCH, you can trust our family to take care of yours.

Tazewell County nurtures a special position in the majestic Appalachian Mountains of southwest Virginia. The county's 500+ square miles of hillsides and valleys, streams and rivers, meadows and forests form a largely agricultural land. Home to about 40,000 people, its towns bring you back to the feeling of safer, more relaxed times. It's a wonderful place to live, raise a family or to retire, and a great place to visit!

If you're looking for the joys of the great outdoors, your search is rewarded in Tazewell County. Plentiful fish leap from native trout streams, the Clinch River, and local lakes; hunting is bountiful. You'll find the ease, or challenge, the county has to offer in its versatile hiking and biking opportunities on country roads and through vast expanses of national forests.

Community Information

The beauty of the mountains and valleys, and the richness of game and fish in the forests and streams must have been appreciated by the Native Americans who passed this way. Only in the last quarter-century, has evidence proved the existence of permanent Native American villages in the area. Their interesting story is told at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum, located at Pisgah, close to a Native American village site and on lands once owned by the first pioneer farmer, Thomas Witten.
