Pulmonologist Greater Pittsburgh | Flexible Hospital/Clinic Schedule

Practice details

• Service coverage: Pulmonology team supports 3 hospitals and 2 office locations. The incoming physician will be based at one hospital and one office and may provide shared call coverage across sites.
• Scope: Pulmonology is consultative only (no admissions). Typical patient mix includes COPD, asthma, lung nodules, interstitial lung disease, dyspnea, cough, and OSA. Opportunities exist for bronchoscopy, EBUS, and PFT interpretation.
• Clinical volume: Average clinic census ~15–25 patients/day; inpatient consults ~20–30 patients/day. APP support available in both hospital and office settings.
• Schedule (pulmonology-only): Monday–Friday office schedule with rotating hospital weeks. On hospital weeks the physician provides system and office call coverage. No ICU call required.

Pulmonology/Critical Care (hybrid) option

• Time split: Hybrid physicians divide time between pulmonary consults and critical care. Typical arrangement is alternating blocks of pulmonary service and ICU coverage.
• Pulmonary blocks: Inpatient and outpatient consult service with the clinical volumes and procedural opportunities noted above; APP support is provided.
• Critical care blocks: ICU coverage typically follows a 7-days-on/7-days-off model (schedule flexible), with on-site intensivist support 24/7. Shifts alternate between 7A–7P and 7P–7A and include weekend coverage.
