Carilion Clinic in scenic Roanoke, VA is searching for a Palliative Care physician to join its growing palliative medicine program at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed teaching/tertiary referral center with Virginia State-designated Level 1 Trauma Center serving one million people in Virginia. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, thrive in an interdisciplinary team environment, and are a strong ambassador for palliative medicine. The candidate must be collaborative and enjoy working in a team-based environment, providing direct patient care, teaching students, residents, and fellows. There are teaching opportunities and potential for faculty appointment through affiliation with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Key responsibilities include being a key member of an inpatient palliative care consult service providing inpatient coverage and managing and supporting patients and families on the inpatient palliative care unit. Candidates must be ABMS/AOA-BC, fellowship trained in an approved AAHPM Palliative Medicine program, and certified through the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, or plan in place to receive certification within two years. Palliative services at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital are offered daily, and weekend and holiday coverage is shared by the group. Night call is taken from home with no overnight in-person care expected.
