Summary:

The Certified Respiratory Therapist Lead will be responsible for shift assignments, ABG Quality Control and for assuring that when triage of patient and treatments is necessary it is done according to policy. Responsible for providing Respiratory Care in accordance with policy and procedures. Oversight and support of staff therapists to assure quality patient care at all times. Responsible for documentation and charges for the Respiratory Care Department. This is an advanced practitioner position and should be an individual who works well without direct supervision.


Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Responsible and accountable for performing all therapeutic modalities as indicated in the departmental procedure manual, as well as documentation and charges
  • Responsible and accountable for performing continuous ventilator management, performs puncture, analysis and quality control for arterial blood gas
  • Responsible and accountable for performing all therapeutic modalities as indicated in the departmental procedure manual, as well as documentation and charges.

  • Responsible for assuring triage is conducted only when necessary and that it is done according to policy.
  • Responsible and accountable for providing supervision and support staff therapists to assure quality patient care at all times.
  • Responsible and accountable for shift assignments and responsible for oversight of associate breaks.
  • Performs routine Respiratory Therapy procedures, patient assessments, and adult mechanical ventilation as required.
  • Assists manager with Associate evaluations.
  • Participates in education activities to further his/her knowledge on a general basis in order to enhance the quality of patient care.
  • Any other duties assigned.


Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • See licensure and/or certification requirements

Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience preferred

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • RT or RCP License in state of employment required
  • BLS required
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by NBRC required

  • Current PALS certification required
  • Current NRP certification required

 In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame.

 

Credential Grace Periods: 

If additional credentials are required per the Position Requirements section, a grace period to obtain the certification will apply, dependent on your experience level. 

  • Any Candidate/Associate with at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years is considered an Experienced Associate.
  • Any Candidate/Associate who does not have at least one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years is considered an Experienced Associate New to the Specialty.
