Level II PICU - 7 on / 7 off - Home Call - Work/Life Balance

Responsibilities

Join a collaborative, mission-driven team at Rapides Women’s & Children’s Hospital with Pediatrix Medical Group.

 

Are you a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Intensivist looking for a fulfilling role with a flexible schedule and a supportive team? This is your chance to make a meaningful impact in a well-established Level II PICU while enjoying 26 weeks off per year.

  • Established PICU team with 2 Pediatric Intensivists and 2 Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNPs)
  • Flexible week-on/week-off schedule with home call (30-minute response time)
  • Daily PNP coverage and collaborative care model
  • Teaching opportunities with family practice residents, PNPs, RNs, and RTs

Your Clinical Scope

  • Inpatient Pediatric Floor
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Pediatric Sedation Services
  • No ECMO or post-op hearts
  • Procedures include: intubations, lumbar punctures, line placement, chest tubes, CPR
  • Documentation: H&Ps, progress notes, discharge summaries

Rapides 2024 Census Snapshot

  • Pediatric Admissions: ~550/year
  • PICU Admissions: 250–300/year
  • Pediatric ADC: 6 | PICU ADC: 3
  • Subspecialty Support: Cardiology, Pulmonology, GI
  • Monthly Subspecialty Clinics: 1–2x/month
