Job Description

Come to San Antonio, TX and take your career to the next level! We are seeking an experienced, board-certified physician to join our team. The Physician Advisor will be responsible for Baptist Medical Center and Mission Trail Baptist Hospital; however, the PA will be located primarily at Baptist Medical Center. While experience as a PA is preferred, candidates with a strong desire to succeed will be considered.

The PA is responsible to the hospital CFO for the coordination and management of medical staff affairs, liaison with medical staff, assistance in quality/process improvement and utilization review programs. The PA will also develop and coordinate the appropriate medical education and hospital-based research for the case management department, manage the administration of the hospital’s medical staff functions and generally provide professional expertise for administration in medical affairs and the promotion of favorable professional relations within the hospital and community.

  • Promote processes for patients to receive medically necessary and high-quality care throughout the continuum of care.
  • Stay abreast of professional best practices and community standards of care.
  • Assist administration in reducing financial risks associated with denials that are due to providing medically unnecessary or preventable services and extended length of stays

Criteria

  • Experience as a physician leader in a large system, hospital, integrated delivery system or leader of a large complex department
  • Reputation as an excellent clinician with a minimum of 5 years of experience involving excellent patient care in a hospital setting
  • MD or DO with current Texas license in good standing
  • On site required
  • Board Certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
