Responsibilities
 

• Provide genetic counseling for preconception, pregnancy loss, and high-risk pregnancies.
• Review family and medical histories; assess genetic risks and educate patients on inheritance and diagnostic options.
• Interpret genetic test results and communicate findings to patients and referring physicians.
• Respond to patient inquiries, provide triage, and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely communication with healthcare providers.
• Support administrative processes including authorizations, billing, and compliance with OSHA standards.
• Stay current with research and participate in professional development.

Qualifications
 

Education & Certification:

• A current/valid license as a Genetic Counselor if the state in which they are providing medical services requires it.
• Master’s prepared, board eligible or board certified as a Genetic Counselor.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

 

Experience:

Prior prenatal diagnosis is helpful, but not required.Experience with and critical of laboratories providing diagnostic services such as chromosome analysis, molecular DNA technology and biochemical screening.

 

Skills & Knowledge:

Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
