Orthopaedic Physician Assistant – Surgical Assist, Flexible 4.5-Day Week, $125K + $25K Sign-On

Scope and Patient Population

• Adults and geriatrics with musculoskeletal/orthopaedic conditions
• Duties include clinic visits, consults, follow-ups, admissions/rounding for surgical patients as needed
• Clinical focus: general orthopaedics, surgical assist, fracture care, joint replacement, sports medicine

Clinical Duties

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage orthopaedic patients
• Assist in surgeries (joint replacement, fracture fixation, arthroscopy)
• Provide post-operative care, follow-up visits, and patient education
• Participate in shared on-call schedule
• Document accurately in the EMR per hospital standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, APPs, nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary staff

Qualifications

• NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant required
• Active NC license or eligibility to apply
• Minimum 12 years orthopaedic or surgical experience preferred
• Surgical assist competency required
• BLS and ACLS required; active DEA registration required
• EMR proficiency (Epic)

Facility and Team

• EMR: Epic
• Full hospital support including orthopaedic surgeons and anesthesia
• Collaborative team of surgeons, APPs, nurses, and OR staff
• Reports to supervising orthopaedic surgeon and practice leadership
• Reason for opening: practice growth/expansion

Credentialing

• Typical credentialing timeline: 60–90 days

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: $125,000/year
• Sign-on bonus: $25,000
• On-call compensation: $250 per 24-hour shift; up to $30,400 additional call incentives
