Location and Assignment

• Location: Altoona, PA (with coverage also in Everett, PA)
• Facility: Hospital Emergency Department (380 beds, Level III Trauma)
• Coverage Type: Clinical only, locum tenens
• Start Date: 11/17/2025 — ongoing
• EMR: Cerner

Schedule

• Altoona: 10-hour shifts (6a–4p, 8a–6p, 11a–9p, 1p–11p, 3p–1a, 5p–3a, 9p–7a)
• Everett: 12-hour shifts (7a–7p, 7p–7a)
• Must be willing to work nights

Patient Population and Volume

• All ages (pediatrics through geriatrics)
• Annual ED visits: ~51,000 (avg. 137/24 hrs)
• Case mix: broad emergency presentations including acute/emergent trauma
• Admissions included

Clinical Duties and Procedures

• Provide direct patient care and manage acute/emergent cases across all ages
• Perform required ED procedures: intubations, chest tubes, central lines, joint/fracture reductions, joint aspirations, laceration repair, incision and drainage, and other standard emergency procedures
• Collaborate with physicians and APPs; sign off on APP charts
• Support both Altoona and Everett sites

Support and Resources

• 24-hour APP coverage
• Specialty backup: Anesthesia
• Standard ED equipment and support staff available

Credentials and Requirements

• Medical license: Active Pennsylvania license required (IMLC considered)
• Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM accepted)
• DEA: Active DEA required
• Certifications: CPR required; stroke certification required. ATLS/ACLS/BLS/PALS not required if BC/BE
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Emergency Medicine
• Education: Completion of Emergency Medicine residency

Privileges and Credentialing

• Hospital privileges required (full privileges)
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 90 days
