Locum Tenens Rheumatologist — Outpatient, Epic, No Call, Travel/Lodging & Malpractice Covered

Locum tenens opportunity in outpatient rheumatology based in Hanover, PA. Coverage begins January 2, 2026 and is ongoing. Clinical-only position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with no on-call responsibilities.

Clinical scope and volume

• Adult patient population only.
• High-volume outpatient clinic (~12–16 patients/day).
• Minimal hospital consults (approximately 0–5 phone consults/month during clinic hours).
• Case mix includes: rheumatoid and seronegative arthropathies (psoriatic, ankylosing, reactive), vasculitides (GCA/TA, polyarteritis nodosa, Wegener’s), inflammatory myopathies and polymyalgia rheumatica, gout/crystal arthropathies, osteoporosis/bone health, sarcoidosis, and systemic autoimmune disease (SLE, scleroderma, Sjögren’s, Raynaud’s, ANA-associated syndromes).

Practice environment and support

• EMR: Epic.
• Clinic support from APPs and dedicated staff; ability to supervise APPs expected.
• No other specialties on-site.
• Reason for coverage: turnover vacancy.

Privileges and credentialing

• Full hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available.
• Estimated credentialing timeframe: 90 days.

Requirements

• Active PA medical license or participation in the IMLC.
• BC/BE in Rheumatology.
• DEA, BLS.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical rheumatology experience.
• Comfortable managing adult rheumatology cases and using Epic.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient rheumatology care via office and video visits.
• Supervise APPs and coordinate with clinic staff to ensure continuity of care.
• Manage in-basket administrative and clinical tasks.
• Perform joint injections as indicated.
• Respond to limited hospital consults by phone.

Schedule and workload

• Estimated 20 shifts/month (flexible; 10–20 possible).
• Approximately 36 patient-facing hours per week.
