Schools

Longview is served by several award-winning school districts.  Longview Independent School District is recognized by School/Match as being in the top 15 percent in the nation, and was selected for the 2002 11th Annual "What Parents Want" Award.  PEP School is a Texas School of Excellence and has been nominated as a National School of Excellence-Blue Ribbon School in the No Child Left Behind Program of the Department of Education.   Pine Tree Independent School District is recognized consistently by the nation's largest school selection consulting firm, SchoolMatch of Columbus, OH, as one of the top 15% in the nation, receiving the "What Parents Want" Award. In addition, Pine Tree High School was awarded Gold Performance Acknowledgments for Advanced Placement Exam results, College Admissions and commendations for Writing Test results by the Texas Education Agency. Also, Longview High School recently implemented the International Baccalaureate Program, one of only a handful of Texas schools with this distinguished curriculum for students.
