**Advanced Practice Provider – Critical Care Intensivist**
**Location: Tulsa, OK**
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join a dynamic cardiac critical care team. This role involves providing advanced care for a highly complex patient population in an intensive care setting. The team consists of APPs who work both autonomously and collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage patients’ health conditions.
The APP will develop and apply advanced diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills to provide comprehensive, holistic care for patients. The service manages critically ill individuals, including traditional and complex cardiac surgical patients requiring Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) and those in need of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) support.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform detailed, problem-focused patient assessments.
• Diagnose and initiate treatment plans for patients with complex acute conditions.
• Conduct daily rounds and collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams.
• Prepare and perform documentation, including History & Physicals, progress notes, consults, and discharge summaries.
• Order and manage medications, treatments, and consultations based on clinical data.
• Perform procedures such as:
o Central venous and temporary dialysis lines
o Arterial line placement
o Intubation
o Chest tube insertion
o Electrical cardioversion
o Assist in initiation and discontinuation of mechanical circulatory support devices
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and medications.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring for staff and learners as appropriate.
Schedule
• Variable clinical work hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• 14 shifts per four-week period.
• Service is fully staffed 24/7 by APPs.
Accountability
The Advanced Practice Provider reports to the APP Manager and adheres to the clinical and ethical standards established by the governing Advanced Practice and Medical Executive teams.
