Job Overview

Marshall is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Medicine Physician to join our team in providing high-quality care to patients struggling with substance use disorders in the beautiful and growing Sierra Foothills of El Dorado County.

Providers at CARES typically see 22 patients on their schedule and we try to accommodate walk-ins as much as possible. Support staff start at 8:15am and patient care is slotted from 9am – 5pm Mon thru Fri. We offer groups and counseling for patients, which is separate from the providers appointments.

Work requirements for a 1.0 FTE physician at CARES is four 8-hour workdays seeing 32 hours of patient care per week over a minimum of 188 workdays per year. A generous benefits package including 401K, medical, dental, vision, etc. is provided in addition to your compensation. Recruitment incentives including sign-on and relocation are available. In addition, Marshall is a qualified public service loan forgiveness site (PSLF).

Job Description:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioid, and other drug dependencies
  • Provide comprehensive addiction treatment, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), detoxification, and behavioral therapies
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans and monitor patient progress
    • 2 Substance Use Navigators (Certified SUD Counselors)
    • 1 Peer Support Specialist
    •  2 Front Desk / Schedulers 
    • 1 Medical Assistant
    • 1 Nurse Practitioner
    • 1 Program Manager (also a Certified SUD Counselor)
    • Team members include:
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations
  • Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring safe and effective use
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services
  • Educate patients and their families about addiction, treatment options, and recovery resources
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in addiction medicine through ongoing professional development

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Addiction Medicine or a related specialty
  • Valid California state medical license
  • Experience in addiction treatment and recovery services preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Passion for helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve lasting recovery
