Job Description

Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities.

UT Tyler School of Medicine - UT Health East Texas is seeking a full-time BC/BE Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist to join the team working at their hospital in Tyler, TX- 92 mi to Dallas.

Both seasoned MD’s, DO’s and new graduates are welcome to apply. New graduates will thrive in a supportive environment with mentorship opportunities from experienced providers.

Schedule:

  • Monthly schedule includes either 6–8 shifts of 24 hours or 12–14 shifts of 12 hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Additional shifts and holiday coverage available with incentive pay.

Position Highlights:

  • Inpatient-only position focused on comprehensive OB/GYN care.
  • Provide call coverage for labor & delivery and inpatient services.
  • Manage all aspects of inpatient OB/GYN care, including:
    o Labor management
    o Vaginal and cesarean deliveries
    o Emergent surgical interventions
  • Oversee obstetric triage, inpatient consultations, and admissions.
  • Smart Technology: See more patients without extending your day. Our providers use Epic EMR and Ambience AI scribe technology to automate documentation, reduce administrative burden, improve patient flow, and ensure accurate coding—leading to better work-life balance and revenue.

Collaborative Environment:

  • Work closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Neonatology teams.
  • Deliver coordinated, high-quality care in a Level III NICU setting.

Academic & Professional Growth:

  • Engage in teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.
  • Optional academic appointments are available.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and clinical protocol development within the Women’s Health service line.

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. The school offers a robust Graduate Medical Education program, with 20 residency and fellowship training programs, enabling graduates to gain specialized skills in areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia.
