Catch a show at The Temple Theatre, Carolina’s center for performing arts restored 1920’s inspired venue that attracts more than 30,000 theatre goers a year. Visit the Sanford Arts and Vine Festival a 2-day event each spring that showcases the work of North Carolina’s leading potters and artisans, as well as the products of the state’s premier vintners, brewers and vineyards. Visit Historic Downtown featuring historic buildings, one-of-kind shopping and dining experiences as well as the Depot Park on the grounds of the Railroad House and the old railroad depot. Central Carolina Community College, which has been ranked among the top community colleges nationally, has its main campus in Sanford. 

Recreation

Sanford keeps residents active with a vast array of recreational options.  Championship golf at 5 outstanding area golf courses include Tobacco Road, nationally ranked 4th best public course by Golf Digest and 50th best public course in the world by Golf Course Architecture, it is hard to beat Sanford and Lee county. Sanford’s municipal course is great too with a pine-lined fairway and a water view on the back nine. Expanding greenways allows for bicycling, strolling, jogging or just enjoying the fresh North Carolina air. While the 177-acre San Lee Park and Bicycle Trail is a regional favorite, San Lee Park also offers picnic areas, paddle boating and kayaking. And for simple, spectacular outdoor getaways, try paddling the 76-mile trek on the Deep River.  Or if lake life suites you, try out the action at the 1,400 acres of Jordan Lake that offers nine recreation areas, where boating, camping, swimming, and picnicking are popular.  Bald eagle watching is also a favorite there.
