Schedule

• Clinic: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Weeknight call: Mon–Fri, 5:00 PM–8:00 AM (telephone + in-house as needed)
• Weekend call: Sat–Sun, 24-hour call (8:00 AM–8:00 AM)
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Call model: In-house and telephone; weekly clinic with weekday and weekend call rotations

Patient Volume & Case Mix

• Patient demographics: Adults 98%, Pediatrics 2%
• Clinic volume: 3–10 patients/day
• Admissions while on call: ~5 on average
• Services: Inpatient and outpatient cardiology, consults, TEEs, cardioversions, stress tests, image interpretation, phone consults
• Rounding: Included

Facility & Support

• Trauma level II
• EMR: Epic and Cerner PowerChart
• Specialty backup: CT surgery, vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, interventional radiology, electrophysiology, trauma/ACS, orthopedics, neurosurgery
• APP coverage typically 8:00 AM–12:00 PM; PA-C assistance in AM

Privileges & Credentialing

• Hospital privileges required (full and temporary privileges available)

• Credentialing timeline: ~90 days

Required Procedures

• Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs)
• Cardioversions

Qualifications & Credentials

• Active PA medical license or participation in IMLC
• Board certified in Cardiology
• DEA registration
• ACLS, BLS
• Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Proficiency with Epic and Cerner

Compensation & Logistics

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided
• Lodging cap: $175/night at non-preferred hotels (no incidentals)
• Airfare: Economy, 1 checked bag
• Rental car: Mid-size car Apr–Nov ($75/day cap); Mid-size 4WD SUV Dec–Mar ($100/day cap)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiology care
• Cover weekday clinic and assigned calls (weeknights and weekends)
• Perform IP rounding, consults, TEEs, cardioversions, stress test proctoring as needed, and image reads
• Collaborate with APPs/PA-Cs for patient management
• Manage phone consults and respond in-person when required (e.g., stat TEE for dissection)
