We’re seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to join a busy inpatient team in Atlantic City, NJ, on a locum tenens basis. You’ll provide clinical care and take part in call coverage, supporting surgeons and managing post-op and ICU patients.
Schedule and coverage
- Start: ASAP, ongoing
- Days: Monday–Friday, 8–10 hour shifts
- Call: Nights 6pm–6am and 24-hour weekend call
- Setting: Inpatient (ICU and floor)
Typical caseload and duties
- Operate on about 2 cases per day; round on 5–12 patients (ICU/floor)
- First-assist in surgery and perform chest tube insertions
- Retrieve vascular conduits and perform endoscopic retrievals
- Manage daily rounds, diagnose and treat illness, order and interpret tests
- Remove sutures and perform other perioperative tasks
Systems and support
- EMR: Cerner
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided
Qualifications
- Active New Jersey license
- NCCPA certified (PA-C)
- Current CSR, BLS, ACLS
- 2–3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience
